I’m not going to lie: photo filters are one of my favorite things to play with on Instagram

The ability to instantly refine and shape your image in photos is incredible and fun– and these days, everybody has a professional photo editor in their pocket.

But while it’s a lot of fun to experiment with light and filters... and you can sure make yourself look stunning in every single photo... what about real life?

What happens when you actually have to show up in person, where there is no digital filter? How do you present yourself on a first date, or in a job interview, or even when you’re walking down the aisles of the grocery store?

How can you give yourself the edge that makes you feel sexy, smart and confident and has you smiling and standing taller?

There is no filter for real life. That’s where the Attitude of Beauty comes in, and that’s the mission of Runway Rogue: to help you connect with your own sense of beauty, every day.

Attitude of Beauty?

During my career as a supermodel in the 90’s, I learned a lot about makeup. In fact, makeup was and still is my favorite aspect of being a model because I’ve experienced what a tremendous impact it can have on how I feel about myself every day.

In the 90’s, there was no concept of, “we’ll fix it in post.” There were no photo filters; there was no easy way to make adjustments to the images after they were taken. The makeup had to be flawless because re-touching wasn’t common, and when it was used, it was slow and expensive.

As a result, there was a huge emphasis on makeup and of course lighting. The models had to look spot-on, not simply “good enough” for the filters to fix!

I worked with world-famous makeup artists like Laura Mercier, Francois Nars, Kevyn Aucoin and Billy B., who taught me some of the best tricks of the trade – and I learned what works for my face, and what makes me feel good.

I began to notice that when my makeup was done well, I actually felt more confident. I felt sexy, I smiled more, I stood up straighter. And when I felt this way, I didn’t need a photo filter because I exuded my own personal version of the Attitude of Beauty.

After the shoot was finished, I never just went straight home. While other girls would rinse the pigment off their skin before even leaving the studio, I usually found an excuse to go to dinner or out with friends so I could just leave on what the make up artist created for our shoot a little while longer.

Your Attitude of Beauty?

If you’re like me, then you know there are certain things that just make you feel amazing. Makeup might be one of them, and that’s great!

Every single person has a different concept of beauty. We all don’t have to look the same to be “beautiful” because beauty and allure is about radiating your inner self to the outside world. Each of us is different, and each of us has a unique and exciting spark to share.

So what is your Attitude of Beauty? What makes you feel stunning, lustrous, magnetic and unstoppable?

I invite you to embrace all things that bring your personal Attitude of Beauty to life. Stand tall! Own who you are and share your beam of light with the world!

Here’s to igniting your Attitude of Beauty! And if you feel expressive today, join my online community on Twitter and Instagram and use the hashtag #SocialRogues.
